Requirements for Concentration, B.A. or B.S.
18 credits, six of which must be at the 300 or 400 level, distributed as
follows.
I. Core Courses (6 credits):
IMS 110 (Introduction to Cyberspace)
IMS 210 (Multimedia Computing).
II. Human Interactions
in Cyberspace (3 credits):
Student will choose one course from the following (or an approved substitute) :
Comm 230 (Introduction to Mass Media), CS 210 (Computing and Culture), CS 495 (Legal & Ethical Issues in Computer-Mediated Communication), Eng 418 (Journalism and the Internet), Phil 335 (Philosophy of Science), PS 315 (Technology, Business and Politics I: The Politics of Cyberspace), Soc 478 (Information, Images, and Inequality).
III. Methodologies
in Internet and Multimedia Development (3 credits):
Student will choose one course from the following (or an approved substitute) :
Bus 401(Marketing in Cyberspace), Comm 330 (Basic Video Production), CS 110 (Internet Programming and Applications), CS 151(Introduction to Computer Science), Des 126 (Graphic Design), EdT 490 (Instructional Computing), Geog 378 (Introduction to Geographic Information Systems), MIS 201(Introduction to Management Information Systems), Mus 112 (Computer Applications to Music), TC 113 (Introduction to Information Processing).
IV. Advanced Study
(3 credits):
A second course approved by the Program Director to be chosen from the courses listed under Categories II or III (or an approved substitute) intended to augment the experience gained in the first course. This course may be an approved prerequisite to a listed course.
V. Capstone Experience
(3 credits):
Student, in consultation with the Program Director, will choose one of the following:
IMS 480 (Senior Project), IMS 490 (Independent Study), or a qualified senior project in a related department or program. This experience is intended to further develop and apply the knowledge gained in the rest of the program, especially in Category IV.
